Post 16 Kehelland experience.

From tree to bottle - Post 16 learn about the production of Kehelland Apple Juice.

Our Post 16 students have been lucky enough to experience working at Kehelland Farm, assisting in the production of their delicious apple juice.  Over a number of weeks, they were able to work with a wide range of staff from the farm.  This allowed them to learn to listen to instructions from other, less familiar, adults, a vital skill when going to the workplace.

Learning how to harvest and sort the apples was vital to producing high quality juice and the students were able to use a range of new equipment.

This included the 'apple wizard', which Ted aptly renamed the 'apple hoover'!

Once the apples were harvested the team went on to the processing phase, including washing, crushing and finally juicing and bottling.

Everyone was able to gain skills in taking instructions, working as a team, learning about work safety and experiencing the whole production of a product.  We look forward to working with Kehelland again in the future.
